A trip to Marbella over Eastern turned out to be a great choice. 25 degrees, blue sky, visits to our favorite beach clubs and, as always, delicious food. This should be compared to snow, both in Stockholm and Moscow…
I have been to Marbella a couple of times and for me this is the perfect place for a break, recharging the batteries and to get some well needed sun. I love the lifestyle here, the climate with more or less great weather from April to October, the long board walk along the sea and of course the fact that one of my best friend is having a house here.
This time it was time for a long awaited girl weekend with Jenny – and a lovely weekend we had!
For the first time we stayed in a hotel – Gran Hotel Guadalpin. The hotel as such was a bit too big and crowded for me but the location was perfect. The board walk and the sea just outside the door step and located in a quite area between vibrant Puerto Banus and the more quiet San Pedro area. We loved the view from the big balconies, the afternoon vine in the lounge bar and to fall a sleep and wake up to the sound of the waves.
The Days at the Beach Clubs
Marbella is full of beach clubs in all forms. As the key focus this time was to relax, recharge batteries and get some tan, we visited our top three favorite beach clubs.
There is no better place to start your vacation than in El Ancla. The minute you enter this place all stress disappears. A day in a sunbed facing the ocean (these are by far the best ones), reading your favorite book or magazine, a lunch in the beautifully set restaurant and the relaxed vibe, quickly transfer you into vacay mood!
If you want a luxurious day by the sea , Puro Beach Marbella is the place to be. This beautifully designed oasis is just magic, especially if you arrive early in the morning and get some peaceful hours before the crowd arrives. The sun beds, the food and service are all very thought through and makes you feel truly spoiled for a day! We always return to this place when in Marbella and this time we got a great lunch company by Madeleine, Johan and little Nicolas!
Last but not least we spend a day at Seasoul. This small beach club is a true gem that we found last time here. The front row sun beds offer an amazing view over the sea but also for people watching. The setting and design is simple but yet picturesque. Stay in the sun bed all day long, take a swim in the beautiful pool or spend some time on the beach reflecting over life or just enjoying the view!
There are many great restaurants in Marbella and of course we visited some of our favorites. An organic and healthy breakfast @ Organic Market and Food is a must. Their fresh juices and smoothies give you a good start of the day and the truffle egg benedict is just something special…
Puento Romano is not only the most luxurious hotel in Marbella but here you can also find some of the best restaurants. We always visit SeaGrill for some fresh seafood with a stunning view or like this time, in their cosy “British living room style” upper floor restaurant (as the evenings were still a bit chilly).
As our Italian favorite, Serafina, was fully booked we tried out the Spanish neighbor, Bibo,. Their tapas were great and the guacamole with burrata was so yammi. A drink or two in the cocktail bar is a perfect ending of a lovely day, especially when you meet some friends that you have not seen for a long time. Sometimes the world is a small place….
We saved the best for last – Tahini – a place that never disappoints you. The balcony overlooking the ocean, the peaceful atmosphere and the culinary experience. Their sushi and gyozas are best in class and if you, like me, loves meat you have to try out their “Teppanyaki”.
The Morning Walks…
I am for sure not a morning person and Jenny is even worse but when you are in Marbella you do not want to miss the mornings. The peaceful long walks along the never ending board walk are just too good. Even the always so vibrant and busy Puerto Banus, is quiet and peaceful this time of the day….
First time I visited Marbella, I must admit, I was not overwhelmed. But after a couple of visits I start to like Marbella more and more. You just need to know what to do and where to go. And every time I visit I discover some new hidden gems….
Hope to see you soon again Marbella!
