I love Copenhagen! The continental vibe, the Danish design and fashion, the colorful bikes, the trendy people and last but not least the lovey boutique hotels and restaurants. Not far from Stockholm but yet so different….
Still, when I come here it feels a bit like coming home. Maybe it is because I have been here quite a lot during the last years, being Fredrik’s and my favorite meeting spot outside Sweden & Russia during our first year together. But this time it was time for a girl weekend with my dearest friend Anna.
Copenhagen is full of design and boutique hotels but this time we wanted to have a truly cosy and personal stay and went for one of my favorite hotels, Axel Guldsmeden Hotel. Once you enter this small eco conscious hotel with influences from all over the world you feel like home. The friendly staff and atmosphere, the inviting and cosy lobby, the restaurant with a delicious organic breakfast buffet, the bar filled with organic wine – well it all makes it hard to leave this place.
The narrow corridors up to the rooms with wooden floors covered by Persian rugs feels more like a private apartment building than a hotel, . The rooms are bright and modern with inspiration from nature and the eco consciousness as red thread in the design. We loved the organic shampoo, conditioner and shower gels provided and slept like princesses in the comfy Bali inspired bed!
Copenhagen welcomed us with sun and a clear blue sky! We spent the days strolling the the narrow streets of the vibrant and hipp neighborhood, the Vesterbro district. We had a coffee at our favorite brunch place, Granola and admired all the colorful flowers. But best of all was the shopping, especially for me living in Moscow. I love Danish fashion and we visited store after store and got inspired by the spring trends and the beautifully decorated boutiques. And of course we did some shopping too:)!
Anna is a morning person and luckily I was still two hours ahead (Moscow time) so we woke up early and wandered the silent street next to Ströget up to Norrebro, another of my favorite area. The few times I wake up this early, I promise myself to do it more often going forward. The silence, the feeling of having the city for yourself and slowly experiencing the city come to life is a truly amazing experience.
We stopped by the trendy Sp34 Hotel, a hotel I need to try out next time in town. We had a delicious brunch at Café Victors, explored the streets and small patios of Norrebro and had a coffe at the blogger cafe and design shop Atelier September.
To get some true spring feelings you need to visit Nyhavn, Have a glass of wine in the sun, admiring the colorful houses, the old beautiful boats and just do like the rest of the Copenhagers – enjoying the sun and life!
Last but not least, the dinners. We started our culinary journey at Lé lé , a vibrant modern Vietnamese cuisine with delicious food and cocktails, Asian inspired design and interesting mix of people. The ceviche, spring rolls and beef salad are state of the art.
The last night, we finally got a table at Llama, a restaurant I have wanted to visit for a long time but never managed to get a table. This South American heaven is located opposite Magasin du Nord in a basement. The food is inspired by Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Mexico. And the food here is just great. A true authentic South American experience and we loved the ceviche and fish tacos.
The restaurant is designed by colorful tiles and the seating made to encourage socializing. We got two seats by the bar which was great as you could do some people watching and interactions while enjoying the delicious food.
And do not forget to try out one or two Pisco Sours….!
Copenhagen delivered as always. Some old and new acquaintances and the first real spring feeling of the year!
