Before the Revolution, Cuba was a paradise of luxury and gambling – in fact, Las Vegas is modeled after Havana. Most of the early 20th century best hotels in Havana, which made Cuba into a party island, are now gone. These days, a boutique hotel Havana means once-great lodgings refurbished after the fall of the Soviet Union. Some other luxury accommodations have repurposed aristocracy mansions from the ’30s. Read more about them in my Havana hotel review!
Best Hotels in Havana
The quality of local lodgings is subpar, so, review in advance. One great way to experience Cuba is staying at a family home, or Casa Particular. We didn’t go for this option in Havana, but had a great time this way in Vinales. A fantastic way to experience the local Cuban life but make sure to use trustable agencies here so you find a good place for your stay. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t find at a boutique hotel Havana!
Anyway, here’s my Havana hotel review!
Florida Hotel – An Enchanting Boutique Hotel Havana
A stunning colonial-style home from the early 19th century, Florida Hotel is a boutique hotel Havana gem of the old city. Built first as a luxurious house, it has been a hotel on and off since 1885. You can really feel the history and the vibe in the building!

Design & Boutique Feeling
Created with tropical colonial sensibilities, the Florida is exactly how you’d imagine a boutique hotel Havana. Impressively, this classic is filled with luxurious details from a time long gone by. This tropical palace has carved wooden doors, marble floors, arches, columns, and a lovely indoor patio. Between the high-end materials and art deco statues, the design is a highlight in this Havana hotel review!
Room & Other Facilities
Among the best Havana hotels, everything about the Florida screams traditional colonial-style luxury. We stayed in the suite and given the local standards, I would truly recommend this upgrade for a boutique hotel Havana time.
Our suite was big and comfortable and with antique furniture, for that special Cuban touch that sets it apart. Loved the marble floor and the cute little balcony of this boutique hotel Havana. The isolation is not top-class so get ready for some noise from the street as well as a bit cold nights!
We loved to hang out in the indoor yard after long days exploring Havana. This is the oasis of this hotel full of inspiration and a lovely artsy vibe! This is also the place you have to be if you buy a wifi card so a great place to relax while checking out what happened out there. I expect great vibes for a boutique hotel Havana and I wasn’t disappointed here.
Florida Hotel is a stark contrast from the busy Obispo Street and is much more than a boutique hotel Havana. They also have their own bakery, art gallery, salsa club, and even a traditional shoemaker shop.
Food & Drinks
Florida Hotel has a restaurant and two cocktail bars. These are all right, but you can find better places to eat in Havana Vieja. The breakfast menu was okay, but not spectacular so we had breakfast at our favorite El Cafe every morning!
Although the staff was friendly, the service was a bit slow but totally ok when you are on vacation!
Right on Calle Obispo, one of the main streets in Havana Vieja. It’s right in the heart of the old city, in a vibrant street. It’s a great spot to visit and mix with the crowd of tourists and Cubans.
I want this Florida hotel review to really highlight how oasis-like this place feels. So different from the busy, buzzing city!
Saratoga Hotel – A Gem in this Havana Hotel Review
Another Old Havana jewel, the Saratoga Hotel is considered one of the best in Cuba. A neo-classic building from the late 19th century, the venue was first conceived for warehouses. Half a century later, in the 1930s, the venue was turned into a luxury hotel. It has a history worthy of a boutique hotel Havana!
We too fell in love with the place, and couldn’t wait to include it in our Havana hotel review!

Design & Boutique Feeling
The elegant design of Hotel Saratoga makes it the ultimate boutique hotel Havana. It’s been a hotel on and off since the 1930s, with a few decades in between as a communal home. It’s been reopened as a hotel since 2005, and it’s the most iconic 5-star lodging in Havana. Celebrities like The Rolling Stones and Beyoncé consider this among the best places to stay in Havana!
A true boutique hotel Havana, it maintains its neo-classic and formidable façade- Magnificent in architecture and design with some Cuban colorful vibes!
Room & Other Facilities
The rooms have a lot of brown and beige, modern but un-special. Still, the rest of the hotel is downright impressive and an immersive boutique hotel Havana experience.
With tropical luxury in mind, the design feels almost palace-like. Our favorite area was the rooftop, with a gorgeous pool and view of the Capitol. It’s a small but magical one!
Food & Drinks
While the dining areas are nice to look out, you’ll find better food and cocktails by stepping outside but we liked to hang out in the tropical bar. It gave us all the boutique hotel Havana vibe we needed!
Great service, truly friendly staff and what you expect from a 5-star boutique hotel Havana. A highlight of this Havana hotel review!
It’s in a very iconic part of Havana Vieja, almost opposite to the Capitol and just some blocks away from the most popular streets of Havana Vieja.
Saratoga was a perfect place to stay and we would be happy to return next time we visit the Cuban capital. A truly enchanting boutique hotel Havana!
