As one of the great hubs of Scandinavian design, the best boutique hotels Stockholm really stand out. The Swedish capital was once my home, and there’s so much about it I love, including lodgings. Usually hosting functional, simple and lovely design, the cool hotels Stockholm are nothing short of mesmerizing.
Much like Copenhagen, Stockholm offers the opportunity of connecting with the all-encompassing Scandinavian design. Simple and functional, this style has the ability to transport you to a place of cosiness. It’s design to make you feel at home while also falling in love with every detail and simple line. In all, it’s heaven for design lovers!
Stockholm also happens to be the hub of Sweden’s sustainability movement, and there’s a real effort in consciousness. If you’re thinking of engaging in conscious travel, Stockholm has a lot of really great options. Many small and cosy design hotels have their eyes set on sustainability, actively working to offset emissions and reduce waste. Conscious hotel principles are widely used in the city, making it a great destination for those who want to travel with the planet in mind.

A Luxury Gem Among Best Boutique Hotels Stockholm
Keep in mind that, these days, the conscious choice doesn’t mean giving up luxury. In fact, in the case of the best boutique hotels Stockholm, it’s quite the contrary! Conscious is the new black, and choosing sustainable is not just good for our planet, but also chic.
1. At Six – The New Kid in Brunkebergstorg!
Design and Boutique Feeling: 5
A new addition to the field of the best boutique hotels Stockholm, At Six is a modern wonder. Located in Brunkebergstorg, At Six is just hidden enough for the perfect oasis feel. Just what you need from one of the cool hotels Stockholm!
With its discreet entrance, it’s almost like coming into a speakeasy bar that’s a deluxe dream inside. You get the first glimpse at the lobby, where a marble staircase and sculpture welcome you. It’s a world of innovation and creativity, a mix of rough raw design with a luxury touch!
The spaces are wide and certainly give the impression of one of the best boutique hotels Stockholm. The design is a little raw and rough for me, but I couldn’t help but admire the effort.
Each area was built for leisure and comfort, like the lovely cocktail bar. There’s a unique experience on each part of this gem among the best boutique hotels Stockholm!
The breakfast buffet is one of the highlights, with lots of tasty and healthy options like chia pudding and freshly squeezed juices.
This is a fairly new entry among the best boutique hotels Stockholm, and the staff needs a bit of time to improve. The service was good, just lacking the personal touch.
Cool Hotels Stockholm for Hip Travellers
As one of the great European capitals, you can imagine the cool hotels Stockholm are fantastic for creative souls. Funky vibes, trendy crowds and hip design meet in the accommodations below.
2. Hobo – A Boutique Community Experience
Design and Boutique Feeling: 5
Hobo doesn’t quite feel like any other of the best boutique hotels Stockholm. This industrial chic hotel in Central Stockholm’s Brunkebergstorg has a community philosophy: besides a hotel, it’s a place to work, ceate, learn, and have fun together. You can tell there’s something different brewing, and there’s a really hip vibe. Small and full of the personal touch, this is the kind of place that invites you to just chill and hang out.
The design is simplistic, trendy and cool, very much in conjunction with the hotel vibe. I absolutely loved our corner room with large windows. Once outside, the food was lovely: for breakfast, the small and tasty buffet was a charmer. Even better, the restaurant wasn’t just delicious but also organic. They offer seasonal food, with plenty of vegetarian options. One of my favourite cool hotels Stockholm!

3. Downtown Camper
Design and Boutique Feeling: 4 (due to size) / 5 (its concept)
Downtown Camper isn’t exactly boutique, as it’s actually part of Scandic Hotels, a major chain in Sweden. However, you wouldn’t know it coming in – the concept is so unique! This place stands out among cool hotels Stockholm as a center of creativity and playfulness. This is another accommodation where a sense of community is key, with lots of different activities for guests to bond, from movie nights to yoga. Just a few blocks away, you’ll find the best of the downtown Stockholm vibe – yet you might not want to leave the hotel!
There are so many cool things going on at Downtown Camper. Its bar below the lobby’s roof, The Nest Cocktail Lounge, is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. You can also chill at the top floor spa, including in the lovely pool overseeing the city from above. Its restaurant with a rooftop bar is a great place to mingle with locals and tourists. You’ll definitely feel entertained here. Besides, the hipster cool design makes every area even cosier!
One thing that stands out in a lot of the best boutique hotels Stockholm is their commitment to the environment. Despite being a major chain in he country, Scandic has been at the forefront of this for quite some time. It’s been a conscious company since the 1990s, with rooms built sustainably, and produce certified as ecological. They’ll even lead you to explore the city consciously: you can rent a bike, skateboard or even a kayak right at the hotel.

4. Story Hotel Riddargatan – One of the Ultimate Cool Hotels in Stockholm
Design & Boutique Feeling: 5
A modern hotel that mixes industrial design and high fashion, the Story Hotel Riddargatan is a dream. One of the best boutique hotels Stockholm, it’s as comfortable as it is beautiful. Hip and cozy – just what the doctor ordered!
Modern is the word that best describes the Story Hotel. Prominently featuring earthy tones, there’s an artsy fashionista feel to the whole place. Simple and soothing. I love how well the design mixes today’s trends with the old building. The Story Hotel has a seamless design in its common areas and spacious rooms with open wardrobes and full of art.
This gem among luxury hotels in Stockholm hosts one of the top restaurants in town. The service is friendly, even if it isn’t the most smiley one. The location is perfect, particularly for those looking to enjoy the Stockholm nightlife!

5. Haymarket – 1920s Grandeur in the Middle of Stockholm
Design & Boutique Feeling: 4
Sweden might be famous for its simple Scandinavian design, but that doesn’t mean grandeur is off the table. At Haymarket, one of the best boutique hotels Stockholm, it’s “go big or go home”! A 1920s-inspired extravaganza, this majestic lodging is among the cool hotels Stockholm.
From its grand entrance on Hotorget Square, you know you’ve come into a special place. The entire concept of this hotel revolves around the grandeur of the 1920s, and the design shines through.
Although much bigger than most of the best boutique hotels Stockholm, it’s a deluxe experience all-around. A super cool concept that’s worthy of the cool hotels Stockholm!
I’d recommend getting a large or extra large room, as the standard ones are neither very big and nor too quiet. However, the design is pretty cool, and the bathrooms are enchanting, with pink details and a tile painting in the shower.
The rest of the facilities, however, cement Haymarket’s place among the best boutique hotels Stockholm. This darling among the cool hotels Stockholm feels like a lifestyle hotel with all its specific areas. Loved its well-planned lobby to its numerous restaurants.
The food and drinks were great, and there are plenty of options in one of the best boutique hotels Stockholm! As you’d want from one of the cool hotels Stockholm, there are three restaurants here:
Paul’s, an American brasserie with a design inspired by the European days of yore. Gretas, a restaurant serving sustainable food with a focus on the fusion between the 1920s and the 2010s. Lastly, Americain is a wonderful cocktail bar inspired by classic hotel bars!
Professional service, even if it wasn’t the most smiling, a somewhat common trait in the best boutique hotels Stockholm.
.The hotel is surrounded by farmers’ markets and concert halls, a walking distance from trendy Stureplan.

6. Mornington – A Cosy Stay in the Most Vibrant Part of Town
Design and Boutique Feeling: 3
Despite not having the most impressive design, Mornington has been a favourite of mine for a while. The reason? Its magical location! This hotel is located in Östermalm, the perfect central Stockholm district to get a glimpse of the life of the hip and wealthy. The neighbourhood holds a special place in my heart, as it’s the area where I lived in town!
A combination of beautiful Östermalm architecture, nice restaurants, and bistros make this the place to be. It’s also quite close to the city without the hectic ambiance, as it’s so much calmer here. You’ll also get lots of nature due to its proximity to Djurgården.
Mornington stands among the cool hotels Stockholm due to its fun location; it also happens to be a meeting point of locals and visitors. They hold a lot of events here, so it’s a great place for people-watching. There’s another plus: my favourite restaurant, Nybrogatan 38, is just across the street.
A cosy hotel with small rooms and a library feel, Mornington has everything you need – and it’s steps away from the coolest part of town.

7. Scandic Continental, a Different Business Stay
Design and Boutique Feeling: 3
As you well know, I avoid soulless business hotels after having stayed in too many of them – but Scandic Continental is just different. A business accommodation by this big Swedish chain, it’s an interesting addition to this category. The design is quite stylish, mixing hipster, luxury and industrial. Between this vibe and the brass hardware details, the rooms actually have personality, unlike grey copy-and-paste hotels.
The facilities are pretty great, with a cosy rooftop terrace that’s become a popular hangout place. Their bistro style restaurant is great, and worth considering even if you’re not staying there. If you’re into people-watching, the Continental is another great choice, as Stockholm entrepreneurs often work in the lobby.
The hotel’s location is super convenient, as it’s only steps away from Centralstation and Arlanda Express. This isn’t my favourite area but it’s close to transportation so you can easily reach any other place from here.
