Trendy Restaurants Barcelona to Get the Party Started

  4. Design: 4
  5. Service: 4

Boca Grande is one of my favourites among trendy restaurants Barcelona. A place with a vibrant atmosphere and full of locals, it feels a little like a bistro. The food is delicious, and while it’s focused on flavours of the sea, there’s something for everyone. Love the long list of wine and cava here. If you’re a Swede like me, you should know this is Barcelona’s Riche!

Chill and relaxed, its luxurious touch gives it an extra edge that’s perfect to start an evening out. Still, you can continue the night at the bar upstairs, where tasty cocktails in a deluxe party atmosphere await. I always start my evenings here, then having a drink at the Pulitzer Hotel’s rooftop bar, just a 15-minute walk away.

The pizzas are very tasty and unique, from classic bases and toppings to more exotic ones like truffle carbonara. The wine and beer are fantastic, and the whole place is deeply rooted in sustainability, partnering with artisan producers for local and fresh ingredients. An organic feast for the tastebuds, with an innovative and experimental approach!

What makes this one of the top hip restaurants Barcelona is the fun combination of design and atmosphere. The look is industrial and raw, with a very happy setting full of cool and contemporary details. There are several areas: the first two are a little quiet, while the back room is where the fun times start. Simple, rustic and cool, here you’ll find the open kitchen and long or small tables to sit.

Tapas with a Twist at the Top Hip Restaurants Barcelona

When in Spain, tapeo (trying out tapas from different places) is always a must. Barcelona is no exception, with seemingly endless options, from traditional to fusion. My favourite tapas spots are also among the top trendy restaurants Barcelona, with different new options. Head to the places below to enjoy the cool vibes between the Gothic Quarter and El Born!

3. Llamber – Seasonal Flavours in Unique Tapas

  2. Drinks: 4
  3. Atmosphere: 5
  4. Design: 4
  5. Service: 5

Right on the border with my favourite neighbourhood, El Born, stands fantastic Llamber. Combining Mediterranean and Asturian cuisine, they use seasonal products to make creative and artisanal tapas. An innovative spot, the design perfectly matches the contemporary style with its rusting setting. The wine list is long and delicious, and you’ll want to stay here all night, with its yummy food and fantastic service. One of the best hip restaurants Barcelona, it’s just off the Passeig del Born, surrounded by lovely bars. Perfect area to hang out at night, particularly during the summer – great vibes!

  3. Atmosphere: 5
  4. Design: 3
  5. Service: 5

An institution in El Born, El Xampanyet has been around for over 90 years, yet it remains cosy and family-owned. This is the place for 3-euro cava and traditional tapas, and you’ll meet the entire family while at it. Still, it’s not the price that makes this one of the best trendy restaurants Barcelona – it’s the vibe. A wholly genuine place, it’s a place to have a glass while taking the atmosphere in – then off to the next place!

El Xampanyet was crowded, but I see why

Keep in mind that it’s a popular place and there’s usually a long line outside from the early afternoon onwards.

An oasis in the heart of the metropolis, the Greenhouse Restaurant at the Pulitzer Hotel is truly unmissable. While they only serve lunch, the whole vibe is so great it deserves a spot among the top hip restaurants Barcelona. The focus is on sustainability, using only the freshest local ingredients of the season for a Mediterranean dream. Plus, their wine list is easily among the best in town, with their own wine cellar.

Feeling like you’re inside a greenhouse!

The design is nothing short of magical, inspired by the look and feel of an actual greenhouse. Plants are everywhere here, and the décor is in clear-coloured woods for a warm and welcoming feel.

The food is delicious, and if you’re around here at night, I strongly recommend getting drinks a the Pulitzer terrace!

8. Flax & Kale Passage – Barcelona’s Flexitarian Darling

  1. Food: 5
  2. Drinks: 5
  3. Atmosphere: 5
  4. Design: 5
  5. Service: 4

For anyone looking for a healthy yet not entirely vegetarian menu, Flax & Kale is the place to visit. A place of creative and fun food, the menu is flexitarian: mostly vegetarian but with a few meaty additions. They have four locations in the city, and the Passage one is definitely my favourite. In this venue, the menu is gluten-free Asian fusion, along with a fantastic kombucha lab. The unique flavours make it one of my favourite trendy restaurants Barcelona, great for breakfast, brunch and dinner!

  2. Drinks: 5
  3. Atmosphere: 4
  4. Design: 4
  5. Service: 4

With over 35 years in the business, Teresa Carles is a vegetarian institution in Barna. The role model for every other healthy place in town, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Nice and rustic design with a small grocery store full of takeaway options at the entrance, I think this is the future of vegetarian food. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, on par with the best hip restaurants Barcelona. Their cold-pressed juices are fantastic!
