The Best Vegetarian Restaurants Barcelona: Teresa Carles’ Pioneering Empire

When it comes to the best vegetarian restaurants Barcelona, Teresa Carles has been setting the standard for decades. A Catalan chef with nearly 40 years of experience in kitchens, generally speaking, she’s a veggie pioneer. Generally speaking, her whole thing is about using local ingredients for conscious eating. Conversely, she’s the person who began the trend of vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian food trends in Barna. And by the way, the queen of plant-based food in Barna is still killing it with great new concepts!

There are four Flax & Kale locations around Barna, and the Passage one is for sure my favourite. While they are all flexitarian, each eatery is different from all the other best vegetarian restaurants Barcelona. For instance, here you’ll find a gluten-free Asian fusion menu. Generally speaking, the options are vegetarian, with the occasional oily fish for extra nutrients. Conversely, the culinary experience is nothing short of amazing. I also love the little details like the in-house kombucha lab, particularly the passion fruit flavour!

The interior here is very stylish

In addition to the delicious food, the absolutely gorgeous industrial and neon design elevates the experience. Incidentally, it’s also slightly off the beaten path, near the Palau de la Musica.

The first Flax & Kale and its flagship location, the Tallers menu is generally about healthy choices. Besides offering some of the best vegan food Barcelona, it’s also flexitarian. My personal favourites were the shiitake fajitas and black bead tuna burgers, however, the menu’s quite varied.

Coupled with their own kombucha lab in the sister restaurant, the drinks in this location are otherworldly, with fantastic cold-pressed juices. The entire focus is on fresh ingredients and classic preparations, particularly with a veggie twist. As a rule, it’s best to go on the off-hours, as it can get a little crowded. It’s bigger than the Passage location, but compared to it, not quite as cosy and personal.

Here, you’ll find delicious vegan food Barcelona, and it’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We came here one evening and loved the many vegetarian options such as their delicious juices. Conversely, I’m also a big fan of their rustic design!

Generally speaking, this is a little more than just a restaurant. Here you can also find a small grocery store with great takeaway options.

Incidentally, it’s also a little crowded, so there’s a chance you’ll have to queue to get in. However, it’s so delicious and well-designed that it’s well worth it. It’s just a 15-minute walk from the Sagrada Familia, so a particularly fine choice when in the area!

To begin with, I must say that I lived in Barcelona, Bohl would be one of my go-to spots. In addition to great food, this beautiful breakfast place has an urban and industrial Scandinavian design with simple lines. Coupled with that, it’s among the best vegetarian restaurants Barcelona, with many healthy options. As a rule, I loved how they had 4 different varieties of porridge. I was a particularly big fan of their cocoa porridge, also with cacao powder and nibs, hazelnuts and date paste. Above all, be sure to try their chai latte, smoothies, and fantastic avocado toast!

A cool new kid among vegan food Barcelona, you can usually go to Honest Greens for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Among the best vegetarian restaurants Barcelona, it’s a build-your-meal place. In short, they believe in eating ethically made food, like our ancestors, using seasonal ingredients. Likewise, other reigning principles in the restaurant include community building, and following one’s passions. Beyond that, here you’ll also find a few healthy-ish snacks and treats. Above all, their kombucha on tap was a big upside! This is a particularly great option when around Plaça Catalunya.

An especially elegant option among the best vegetarian restaurants Barcelona, The Green Spot is at the start of Barceloneta. Loved their charcoal pizza with zucchini and smoked burrata, in addition to their root carpaccio with spirulina.  Likewise, their iced turmeric latte with espresso was fantastic! I especially loved the design, which was very green, bright, and Mediterranean. In brief, it’s a lovely option near the beach!
